nothing more than anyone else i’m also just a student but the way some people are trying to like solve a crime over sidechat is hilarious and being like “there were two stabbings today omg???” use your brain please i beg

I don’t think they’re blaming students for being scared. They’re saying students shouldn’t try to spread information on a case they know nothing about as it’ll only cause more fear

Um yeah we should be scared? It could’ve been anyone ?

Are you stupid or something? did I say you can’t be scared or did I say you shouldn’t spread information that can’t be proven so you don’t cause more fear

the chance of a crime happening to you three weeks ago vs today is practically the same statistically unfortunately. the only reason why it seems more likely now is because these crimes are being reported on and happening in a community you are in. these things happen all the time in cities which is terrible obviously but you should always be conscious and aware of your surroundings

I’m not stupid, but I’m also not shocked that an entire university is speculating with the little info that they have. It’s not a good thing, but it’s also something that you can’t stop, or tell people not to do. People are scared either way, & anxious people will be even more scared. My point is that blaming students for talking is just unfair. It’s like blaming people for figuring out what’s in the Epstein files. There’s more productive things to do yes, but pointing it out is just as useless

You definitely can blame people for spreading misinformation saying things like there is a “serial stabber” or making jokes about if you go to class you’ll get stabbed. In times of crisis you’re supposed to mitigate fear. You are saying you cannot tell people not to speculate, but why are you allowed to tell me I’m not allowed to tell people to not do that?

BC you’re acting like you’re better than those who are speculating. There’s no right or wrong way to react, that’s why I said if you think speculating is useless-so is telling people to stop. You’re not cooler for having a different reaction. Also, anyone who comes to yikyak or a groupchat for valid information- is already stupid. My point-people are gonna talk, and theories will be made till we know what truly happened. that is media... You can keep saying it, but you’re not solving it either.

Idk why you’re acting like you know me you’re acting like pushing back against misinformation is useless people speculating will do more harm than good why is speaking out against it a bad thing. Just because it happens doesn’t mean the okay and we should just let it keep going. Dummy boy.

This is also LITERALLY an anonymous app - WHY are you shocked people are spewing bullshit… it’s just so pointless to say this rn, pray for the victims and demand more info…. And don’t go to yikyak for finding out what happened, use it to talk shit like other people do

Making jokes about someone being stabbed is definitely the wrong way to react and if you can’t see that idk what to tell you

But there literally was two stabbings? Why are you blaming students for being scared when shit like this happens all over the country? they’re giving half ass info, and naturally humans are gonna speculate. all we should do is respect the victims and demand safety, and better employees for NUPD.

Yeah , obviously , but would you not react to two stabbings within a mile of you? What is the actual point of saying this
Anonymous1d ago▲ 1
It’s like saying oh, yeah there was two stabbings near your school on campus, but don’t be scared , this happens all the time!

Women get r*ped all the time, doesn’t make it less scary. I carry pepper spray but unfortunately if I was on campus at 8 am, no, I wouldn’t be thinking that someone could potentially stab my neck ,,,
