Pre Covid it wasn’t really an issue, it’s unfortunately a product of the current job market

It’s more nuanced then this. To get a good co-op is supposed to be hard. But just getting entry level work experience should not be this difficult for a smart, hardworking northeastern student IMO

Emphasis on smart and hard work. I completely failed at my first co-op search. Without learning from that failure I wouldn’t be where I am today
