It’s an upbringing thing. Some men weren’t taught that that was important to do. But additionally, there’s a strong correlation between door-holding and being raised in the South. Southern hospitality is very real, and if you or your parents or their parents grew up with those values instilled in you, you’re much more likely than others to hold doors out of courtesy. The alternative idea is that there’s a chance the person just has their headphones in and is trying to get to their destination.
