There’s so many things wrong with this take I don’t even know where to begin

there is absolutely no such thing as ethical free porn. point blank period. you can do whatever you want i have literally no power to stop you but trying to make yourself feel better about your engagement in exploitation is ludicrous

Anonymous 4h ago ▲ 11

If I record myself masturbating and post it to Twitter and someone watches it, you’re suggesting it’s unethical?

Anonymous 4h ago ▲ 0

first of all, yes! there are a multitude of ethical issues with that (the glaring one being twitter is not a porn site so you are subjecting unwilling participants and/or underpaid moderators to that content) second of all, you're trying to hypothesize a gotcha here and if you aren't stupid than you can see that you are further invalidating your position because you lack understanding.go read reputable sources about the realworld effects and ethics of porn in the digital age then form an opinion

I love when I get to witness somebody start an argument with somebody whose knowledge on the topic they clearly underestimated

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 21

Bro i’m not reading all of this shut the fuck up - OP

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

1) providing a rational critique of a hypothetical is different from 'rationalizing' 2) while i could argue for everyone to start paying for porn, that's clearly not what i'm doing here, as i said im just defending my position that free porn cannot be ethical. 3) my position that free porn cannot be ethical does not inherently mean i believe ALL payed porn is ethical, in fact that's a ridiculous leap in logic that you took.

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

and to say that adding a paywall doesn't solve any of the problems plaguing the industry is a bald faced lie. it demonstrates to me you clearly haven't researched this topic. yes, there are certainly less than ethical payed porn options, but like everything else the personal responsibility falls on the the consumer to verify where there money is going. outside of that we live in an attention economy where your views are literally contributing to exploitation

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

i would even add that pornhub is actually more ethical leaning since they require identity verification to post in the first place and as a result, creators are compensated via ad revenue share like youtube operates

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 4

i think that your inability to comprehend any of my arguments here is a reflection of your own ignorance so let me be very very clear. under capitalism (and therefore the PERVASIVE systems of misogyny, racism, and classism) the power imbalances that exist will always be exacerbated in the sex work industry (and dozens of others but i digress) but it is incredibly disingenuous to refuse to acknowledge the reality of that exploitation and that there ARE better alternatives.

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

my argument has remained the same i just expanded on the context?? there is no such thing as ethical free porn. at all. there is such a thing as ethical porn, but simply paying for your porn does not make it ethical. these views are not mutually exclusive.

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 5

despite this pornhub has a lengthy history of publishing sexual abuse material (including child sexual abuse material). the person posting and receiving payment is not investigated to an extent that verifies the origin of the content or protects any people involved

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 4

honestly bro sure whatever!

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

Dear Lord, we thank you for #9’s presence on this Earth and for their health and safety. We ask you Lord God to reveal yourself and guide #9 so that they may become a stronger and better person. We ask you for the strength to remove these inhumane temptations from our minds and cleanse our souls with your wisdom. Thank you for everything you have bestowed onto us amen ✝️

Anonymous 1h ago ▲ 5

you’re trying to rationalize your argument against my point by saying porn itself is unethical yet your original post suggests that we should collectively be paying for it. which one is it? stop consuming or start paying? those are two completely different stories.

Anonymous 3h ago ▼ -1

secondly, the effects of pornography in the digital age are obvious to anyone, but adding a paywall doesn’t solve any of those problems, in fact it would INCENTIVIZE abuse and extortion because of the guarantee of compensation for sexual labor placed into a digital format where compensation may not exist today. on access, it is the platform’s responsibility to ensure that the correct measures are in place to segment content in a way that protects users

Mallon?

Anonymous 2h ago ▲ 5

simply saying “you shouldn’t post that” is a weak argument that has zero defensibility because at the end of the day, *someone* will. by your same argument i shouldn’t be subject to seeing slurs anywhere on social media, but their presence is the literal substrate of internet culture in the same way that porn is, making it fundamentally unavoidable

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 0

lastly, back to “paying” - i would argue that the majority of directly compensated sex workers are literal victims of extortion themselves. take a look at onlyfans culture in miami or LA and see where the value chain actually exists. those models are groomed into that lifestyle, and subscribers are only keeping them in it

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 5

Do you think that if a video is free online the creator doesn’t get paid for it? How do you think YouTube works

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 19

porn isn’t “free” regardless, people just don’t pay directly to the creator. the argument you should be making that actually supports your points is that porn shouldn’t be so ACCESSIBLE. access is the problem here, not payment.

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

Bro completely changed their argument lol

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 7

your point is “free porn is abuse” and i’m saying you’re looking at a symptom of a larger problem and assigning all of the weight of that larger problem to that singular symptom

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

No it didn’t. You started out with free porn specifically being “abuse” compared to paid, now you’re rambling about capitalism

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 4

Oof

Anonymous 3h ago ▲ 1

yes they do have that history i’m not a pornhub defender, but i am saying that they have corrected that and minimized the exposure to that exact problem you’re describing. it still exists but at a much smaller scale today versus say ten years ago.
