Im currently facing academic dismissal from the College of Science. I had a rough semester due to a death in the family and severe financial/physical abuse at home. I’ve already successfully appealed my FAFSA but the school says I have to take the sem off

I can’t go home tho bc my home is abusive, I’ve had cps called on me etc, I’m currently staying with a friend since I live far away but that isn't a longterm solution. I’m doing everything I can right now to stay on track (working, saving money, taking a summer class, and seeing a therapist). My advisor is speaking to her supervisor on Monday, but I’m scared asf that it won’t be enough. Is there anyone else I should reach out to, is there hope for me?

I’m wondering if you can do something with the disability access services. Potentially for psychological impact (PTSD, anxiety, depression) to start an accommodation process. The counselors really go at lengths to help with accommodations and fighting for you for the university’s policies on equal opportunity. In that case to a certain extent they are required by law to accommodate you. I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Your determination and perseverance is extremely admirable.

Hope it all gets better man. Promise u even though it looks like it’s the end trust me it’s not. Wish u the best of luck. Also I think they give you a chance to appeal the decision. I was in academic probation first sem and they tell you u can appeal the decision. Theres a form you submit then you meet with the head of the committee. Good luck
