3 crimes within 5 days in the same campus lol not like spread out across the city… def scarier than that stop downplaying
i never said it wasn't scary, i just think the mass hysteria is not good. ofc keep nupd accountable and everything, but we do live in a city, which people love to forget because it is considerably safer.
It’s just that we pay so much money and part of it is supposed to go to proper law enforcement and safety measures. so i understand why people are mad
It doesn’t matter. NUPD has a job to keep students safe and they aren’t doing it. We are always working to reduce crime and it is extremely ignorant to believe we should simply accept crime as inevitable and not criticize NUPD for not working to secure student safety after a string of unusual violent crimes
more concerning that we are not being alerted, that's nupds job. no law enforcement can prevent crime from happening, but keeping people safe in the aftermath is what needs to happen. people freaking out about it is also not helping! it's fear mongering when TONS of urban schools struggle with stuff like this all year throughout most weeks, like temple for example.
So some people don’t want to risk legal or disciplinary action just to defend themselves

pepper spray is not illegal, and preventing all crime is not possible. they are definitely not doing enough right now in terms of providing safety for students post incident like a lockdown or smth, but having some sort of self defense is crucial to living in an urban area
I carry pepper spray to all my classes no one has said anything. As long as ur not pointing it at people ur fine
