It genuinely sucks. And that’s not to discount the (arguably worse) problems women face— but the truth of the matter is that guys get ridiculed for basically anything they do that isn’t outside of toxic gender norms that push us in miserable states of mind. I feel like a lot of women don’t understand that a lot of their expectations of men are still very patriarchal and unrealistic, but turn a blind eye instead bc those expectations make things more convenient for them

Like I feel like there’s an assumption that men inherently just want to treat women, any woman; that men inherently are ‘real men’ if they have a tall and muscular build, etc. and there’s this paradox where women tell men they want them to read about feminism, they want them to be aware about how shitty the world is to women, but then the men that get on board with that are seen as overly ‘feminine’ and undesirable

you’re finally learning that the only standards women have are double standards. Don’t play their game, be who you want to be

…and every time I try to discuss this, there’s always another man who goes ‘yeah you’re so right, fuck all women.’ Sigh.

didn’t say that. I said you should be who you want to be, don’t try to be molded by random women

I mean, yeah, but ‘you’re finally learning that the only standards women have are double standards’ is tremendously reductive and closes off actual discussion, especially with women

Just because it’s harsh doesn’t make it not true. I mean read how mean the OP post is to men. Is it offensive, yeah, is it kinda true, yeah

Anonymous 29m ago ▲ 1

it’s not wrong to say they get to hold all the power that the OP mentions and they also get to be the perpetual victim

Anonymous 26m ago ▲ 1

Women only get to hold the power if the media pays enough attention to do so, the Cornell 7 case was about to be dropped (I think) until the media started paying attention and gave the power back to Jane Doe, I don’t think “power” counts as power if you have to sway mass public opinion to get it

the Cornell 7 case was dropped because the school couldn’t find enough evidence. the media have made this case infinitely worse for her, all of the TMZ text leaks showing her saying it was not criminal activity and influential women circles like the View coming out to say there is no case have turned this into a huge defeat. if the case was about a man it would’ve been laughed off day 1 btw

Wdym they couldn’t find enough evidence? Also do you realize what rape and that type of violence does to a persons mind? Most people try and disassociate from it because it makes it hurt less, that was probably a coping mechanism on her part and does not change the fact that she was raped. Even if you try and spin the “she said it was consensual thing” I’m pretty sure she said in the texts that she wasn’t a fan of the other dudes there

So even if ur piggy little brain can’t process that she said no and that should be respected, that fact should at least make you understand that in the slim chance the encounter with her and the first 2 men was “consensual” the rest was not
