can we PLEASE read what happened and not spread misinformation. yes it's scary. but it's also really unfortunate and sad that the individual died trying to get help for a mental health crisis.

it’s sad for his family but don’t make it seem like he didn’t have a sword and almost unalived 2 officers
no way u just sad unalived.
you have no way of knowing that
i understand being afraid. but we need to be more nuanced in our views.
i'm not blaming the cops or medical professionals, i'm not blaming the person. i'm saying it's a much more complicated issue associated with a long history of mental health not being taken seriously. crimes like this are preventable if ALL people can get treatment they need. the situation can't be evaluated solely from a crime prevention perspective because it's so much more complicated than that.
when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis to the level that this person was (most likely something like psychosis), they usually don't understand that the clinicians are trying to help them. they may be afraid and act completely in fear of someone they don't know trying to enter their home. they don't want to be killed. that is the kind of take that has led to extreme stigmas around mental illness. educate yourself before spreading harmful rhetoric.
It’s an unfortunate situation all around yes but I think rather than blaming cops, as they genuinely had to do what they had to do when their life and emt’s lives were threatened, we need to focus on perhaps the importance of accurately taking care of mental health before it’s too late
yes i 100 agree w u
how can u be so insensitive.
i'm not blaming anyone it's sad and unfortunate all around but all the students here need to stop acting like this was the same as the drive by and stabbing
if u read what i said you'd see that i didn't once blame cops. i just said it's a sad situation and can't be treated the same as just a violent crime
don’t wanna get banned my guy what’s ur problem
just couldn't type all that w the character limit

people have to stop blaming cops for everything. They clearly were put in a position where the individual was threatening their lives as well.
I don’t think ppl r saying it’s the same , not that would rlly even make a difference ? I think people feel unsafe that there’s been 4 cases of individuals having deadly weapons and we walk around these streets all the time so many ppl r gonna be more concerned ab that then the guy who was going thru it unfortunately. he could’ve done worse if things escalated , and it could’ve been at school
i really think that if he has a weapon he was planning to be violent to others soon
yeah but it’s clearly a time to be better safe than sorry we literally have the most amount of shootings than every other country why aren’t you thinking like that
Like why r u giving ppl grace rn respectfully i want every mf to be scanned and checked before they enter buildings idgaf ab these peoples feelings if its at students expense and lives
what nuance do u have, besides giving empathy to someone who’s never gonna see it. Literally worst time to play devils advocate. It’s not ab being scared it’s about preventing crime.
A mental health clinician was present attempting to perform crisis intervention and bro still attacked people with the intent of seriously harming or unaliving them. Idk but seems like he wanted the smoke
clearly a dangerous lunatic, threat to society, I don’t want to live around these people
