Can a zionist explain their whole spiel to me. Like I don’t understand how a zionist can claim to have a moral code

Zionism was a movement started around the late 19th century. To be a “Zionist” by the true definition, that means you believe in the Jews right to self determination to have their own state, not even tied to the land or state of Israel. I recommend reading early Zionist thinkers like Herzl who really give a purer version of what this concept has been perverted into. His vision was to secure a state for the Jews through political means, not violence like the current awful government of Israel.

So by this definition am I a Zionist? Yes. Do I defend Israel/the state of Israel’s actions currently? No, not at all. I think there’s a lot more nuance to these terms than the buzzwords we’ve come to know them as. I hope Palestine is freed, the awful regime in Israel is kicked out of office, and for there to be peace among the people who live there

in all honesty i’m not sure we can separate the modern meaning from it’s original interpretation. if you believe palestine should be free you aren’t a zionist in the modern sense. “negro” was more neutral in the 1900s than modern day but if you were to say that today (even with the original intention in mind) it comes off as basically adjacent to a slur.

That is an important nuance, thank you
